Westminster , Figure Skating Club, Comte De La Feld Trophy,
The trophy was used for several different types of skating. At its inception it was a trophy for team English Style Figures and latterly it was used for the Figure Skating Club's Junior Pair Competition.
When won by Peggy Stewart and Freddy Tomlins and Daphne Wallis and Reg Wilkie, it was awarded for Junior pairs and contested at the Westminster Ice Club. This rink was a private club run by the Courtauld family and not a public ice rink. It was used by the Royal family and the well to do.
In the 1930's it appeared with some regularity in the Court Circular of the Times with "Ice Carnivals" attended by the great and the good. One example describes Gracie Fields giving prizes and Sir Malcolm Campbell driving on the ice.
Reg Wilkie and Daphne Wallis won it on 4th April 1937, as recorded on the plaque. Daphne was meticulous in recording her competition wins in a notebook.(See below).
