Francis Chantrey, frosted silver medal, 1846, by W. Wyon, for the Art Union of London, bare head bust right, CHANTREY SCULPTOR ET ARTIUM FAUTOR, rev. a view of Chantrey's monument of James Watt, 55 mm(BHM2227), contained within glass lunettes and original gilt lettered Art Union case. A small flaw to the silver rim on the obverse, otherwise practically mint state and extremely rare in this form and in silver. £Sold
Sir Francis Legatt Chantrey,(1781-1841)Sculptor. This work was one of Chantrey's personal favourites. At his death, he left a fortune of over £150,000 to his wife, which after her death funded the Royal Academy Chantrey Bequest.
