Roettier, bust of Prince James left, CUIUS EST (WHOSE IMAGE IS THIS?), rev. map of Great Britain and Ireland, marked, BRIT SCOT, and HIB, with ships at sea, REDITE (RENDER) above, 30 mm (MI 313/134; Woolf 21). The gilding slightly rubbed on the high points, otherwise about extremely fine. £Sold
The legend on the obverse is adapted from Mark XII, verses 16-17; “Whose image is this?” “James, the King’s”. “Render then to him (his three kingdoms)”.
