( GEORGE PRINCE OF WALES WITH HIS OWN HAND LAID THE FOUNDATION STONEOF THE THEATRE TO THE ESTABLISHED UNDER ROYAL PATRONAGE IN COVENT GARDEN IN LONDON IN 1808, 91 mm, (BHM. 638). Only eighteen examples of this medal are recorded as having been produced including a example each to the King and Queen and seven examples for the Prince of Wales himself. Other recipients included Robert Smirke the architect of the new building Sir J. Lawrence and Mr Payne Knight of the British Museum.
