The Pair.
The Quai St. Bernard marks the place where the Seine joins the canal system. The Concierge on the Ile de la Cite is one of the ancient areas of Paris comprising a Royal Palace and prison. It was in this prison that Marie Antoinette was held in 1793 following the execution of Louis XVI and during her own trial. She became something of a tourist attraction and was held here right up to the time of her own execution.
