Admiral Nelson's body lay in state at Greenwich and was carried in a waterborne procession up the Thames to Whitehall. From the Admiralty his funeral car, modelled on the hull of the Victory, was given an impressive military escort to the Cathedral which was packed with mourners. He was interred under the Dome.
