Irish Surplus Revenue Dispute,
The situation had arisen as to what extent the Irish parliament was able to appropriate any surplus for their own purposes. A bill was introduced in 1753 which would allow the English Ministry to take control of the surplus. A bill was brought before the Irish House of Commons to that effect and defeated by 124 to 117 votes.
A gold example in the British Museum is inscribed "Caesar Colclough Esqr. KT. of the Shire of the County of Wexford."
