A. rev. a nude make figure in an attitude of mourning, seated on a pedestal bearing an image of an elephant, ART UNION OF LONDON/ 1858, 55 mm (BHM 2633). Thomas Banks (1735-1805), sculptor. Awarded the Royal Academy gold medal in 1770, The reverse of this medal shows part of the decoration of the tomb of Sir Eyre Coote in Westminster Abbey. The obverse portrait is taken from a drawing by George Dance R.A.
