This medal is an unrecorded version of the obverse of the George IV medal for the Completion of the North Gate of Brighton Pavilion, (BHM.1643), with the Victoria portrait of 1837.
Victoria spent six weeks at the Pavilion from October 1837, where she sat for Pistrucci's portrait for the coronation medal as well as another portrait by David Wilkie.
