City of London, Queen Victoria, Diamond Jubilee, bronze medal, 1897, by F. Bowcher, draped crowned bust of Queen Victoria profile left, rev. Londinia with attendants presents a garland to Britannia seated. 76 mm (BHM. 3510), a pair of medals contained in original gilt lettered case for the Corporation of the City of London. Good extremely fine and rare in this form. £Sold
According to the Guildhall Library, the only examples of this medal issued in the double case were given to Queen Victoria, the Prince of Wales, Duke of York, Duke of Connaught and possibly the Marquess of Salisbury, the then Prime Minister.
