Peace of Paris, silver gilt medal, 1814, by J. Barber and T. Wyon Jnr. for Rundells, laureate bust of the Prince Regent profile right, rev. Britannia standing crowned by Victory, supports Europe, SEIPSAM CONSTANTIA EUROPAM EXEMPLO, (BRITAIN SAVED HERSELF BY HER FORTITUDE AND EUROPE BY HER EXAMPLE). 69 mm, (BHM. 805), contained in original red leather case. A magnificent medal, minor hairline marks, otherwise good extremely fine and rare in this form. £Sold
Brown states that Wyon displayed the reverse of this medal at the Royal Academy in 1815. The Banks papers in the British Museum describes the obverse as being by Barber, "a person employed by Messrs. Rundell's Manufactory."
The truncation is struck Rundell, Bridge et Rundell.
