Edward Pellew, first Viscount Exmouth,(1757- 1833)admiral. The city of Algiers continued to support piracy and was used as a refuge by those engaged in the slave trade. Following the refusal of the Dey to abolish Christain slavery Lord Exmouth bombarded the city.
An example of this medal was presented by the Prince Regent to Lord Exmouth.
