The arms are those of the City of London, the Lord Mayor - Thomas Gabriel, and the two sheriffs, Alderman Sydney Hedley Waterlow (elected Lord Mayor 1872) and Francis Lycett.
Two sheriffs for the City of London are elected annually on the 24th of June by the Liverymen in Common Hall and take office on the 28th of September.
