South East Railway Jubilee, silver medal, 1887, by R. T. Bowman, crowned laureate draped head of Victoria left with legend around, rev. coat of arms of the South Eastern Railway above a portrait of E. W. Watkin, Chairman, with panel inscribed, Parker Thos. Ayers, 31 x 37 mm (BHM 3224), with mount, ribbon and loop for suspension, contained in original Bowman red leather case. Good extremely fine. £285.00
Sir Edward William Watkin (1819-1901), railway promoter, Chairman of the South Eastern Railway. In 1861 he advocated the construction of a railway tunnel between Dover and Calais.
