Sir Felix Booth,(1775- 1850), distiller and a driving force behind the Booth's Gin Distillery. Booth was a founding Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and in the year after serving as Sheriff of the City of London funded John Ross and Charles Parry's expedition to find the North West Passage. Ross was so grateful for this encouragement and financial assistance that he named a number of his discoveries after his benefactor, namely Gulf of Boothia, Isthmus of Boothia, Continent of Boothia Felix, Felix Harbor, Cape Felix, and Sheriff's Harbor.
Such was the success of this expedition that in 1834 William 1V made him a baronet.
