Alfred Ernest Albert, Duke of Edinburgh (1834-1900), second son of Queen Victoria, married the Grand Duchess Marie Alexandrowna, only daughter of Alexander II, Czar of Russia. The ceremony took place in the chapel of the Winter Palace, St. Petersburg.
