Charles II, silver presentation medal, , circa 1683, by John Roettier, armoured draped bust of Charles II right with legend around, rev. royal arms within the garter, supporters and crest with motto on ribbon below, DIEU ET MON DROIT, 53 mm (MI 595/277). At some time cleaned; rubbed on the high points, otherwise good very fine and rare. £Sold
It is probable that these were intended for distribution as presents by the King, possibly for loyalty or service to the crown. A number have been found with suspension loops.
