Princess Augusta of Saxe Gotha,( 1719- 1772).married Frederick Louis, Prince of Wales in 1736. Following his death she took on the role of the mother of the heir apparent- George 111- and was also a potential Regent herself. Here close association with the Earl of Bute lead to rumours of an affair.
She died of throat cancer aged fifty two.
