George IV, Visit to Scotland,
Like many medals of this period struck in white metal and neatly pierced for suspension, this medal was almost certainly worn at the event.
Goerge departed from Greenwich on 10th August and the Royal Squadron anchored off Leith on Wednesday the 14th, the King landing the following day. The Gentleman's' magazine for 1822, vol. 11. pp.172-4 and 267-8 gives a full account of the visit.
