George III Recovery from Illness, Celebrations at St. Paul's 1789,
In January 1789 George 111's health began to improve and in February the London Gazette announced that no further bulletins about his health would be issued. On March 10th Parliament presented congratulatory addresses to the King on his recovery and the country celebrated this.
On March 14th cheering crowds greeted his return to Windsor.
23rd April was appointed by royal proclamation to be the day of general thanksgiving . The King, Queen, Royal family both Houses of Parliament and the corporation of London attended the thanksgiving at St. Paul's Cathedral. The event was extensively covered in the Gentleman's Magazine.
