South East Railway Jubilee, gold medal, 1887, by R. T. Bowman, crowned laureate draped head of Victoria left with legend around, rev. coat of arms of the South Eastern Railway above a portrait of E. W. Watkin, Chairman, with panel inscribed, John Shaw/ Secretary. 31 x 37 mm (BHM 3224), with mount, ribbon and loop for suspension. Good extremely fine. £Sold
Sir Edward William Watkin (1819-1901), railway promoter, Chairman of the South Eastern Railway. In 1861 he advocated the construction of a railway tunnel between Dover and Calais.
John Shaw was General Manager and Secretary of the Company.
