Restoration of Windsor Castle, , by J. Parker, 2 x 27 mm. Minor damage to the label, otherwise good very fine. £Sold
In 1823 George IV decided to take up residence at Windsor. As Windsor had seen little modernisation since the reign of Charles II, the government decided to give £150,000 towards the restoration of the Castle. In fact, the improvements were not finished until 1840 and by that time had cost in excess of £1,000,000.
